Into The Woods Jr.: OnCue Theatre presents this musical featuring students in grades 2-7. From Cinderella to Little Red Riding Hood, and even the infamous Big Bad Wolf, you’ll witness their journeys and discover the consequences of their wishes and actions. Performances Friday, Jan. 19 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 20 at 2 and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m. OnCue Theatre is located at 11852 Coakley Circle in North Bethesda. Friends and Landscapes of the Mind Art Exhibit: Artists & Makers Studios hosts this exhibit by artist Bill Johnson during the month of January. The show features many new mixed media paintings and some of Johnson’s older work. The Artists & Makers Studios are located at 11810 Parklawn Drive, Suite 210 in Rockville. Playdate at the Library: Young children (age birth to 5 years old) and their parents are invited to have fun playing with age-appropriate toys at this drop-in activity at the Olney Library. MoComCon: Celebrate all things fandom, comic, super heroes and fun at the eighth annual Montgomery County Comic Convention (MoComCon). The convention includes activities, workshops, crafts, displays, exhibits and cosplay for all ages. Saturday, Jan. 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at both the Germantown Library and the BlackRock Center for the Arts. Free. A full schedule of events is included on the MCPL MoCom Con 2024 web page.
Wheaton Family Theatre Series: This is the ninth season of InterAct’s public performing arts series for kids and families. InterAct Story Theatre’s Artistic Director, Ali Oliver-Krueger leads kids and adults in exploring a favorite folk tale together through movement, drama, and song. Worlshops are scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. and Sunday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. at Highland Elementary School in Wheaton. Free, no tickets or registration required. STEAM Showcase: The Woods Academy annual STEAM Showcase takes place Sunday, Jan 21 from noon to 2 p.m. Students from 3 years old through eighth grade may explore science, technology, arts, engineering, and math trough hands-on activities. Xiaosheng Bi Art Exhibit: VisArts in Rockville presents the work of renowned artist Xiaosheng Bi from Sunday, Jan. 21 through Sunday, Jan. 28 in the Common Ground Gallery.
