According to Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman, the state’s economy looks a little anemic. Recently, she completed a report to share with the legislature before their annual session. Lierman hopes it will help set priorities.
Lierman sat down with MCM and shared her thoughts on how to give the state’s economic outlook a shot in the arm.
Lierman explained to MCM that Gross Domestic Product (GDP) determination can be complicated. Since many Marylanders commute to the District of Columbia and Virginia for employment, their income numbers do not show up in Maryland’s GDP but in the state or district where they work.
