County Councilmember Evan Glass has been appointed to a committee of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Glass is one of 16 new members of the Local Government Advisory Committee, according to his office and the EPA. Members are liaisons between the federal government and local jurisdictions.
It is an independent committee that gives advice and recommendations on “critical environmental issues impacting local governments,” according to the EPA website.
“I am honored to serve on the EPA’s Local Government Advisory Committee and I look forward to working with leaders from across the country to develop climate policies that protect our communities and our planet,” Glass said in a written statement. “It is imperative that local leaders are engaged in the federal policymaking process as we work to address the climate emergency we are experiencing.”
Glass is one of 37 total members.
He is also chair of the county council’s Transportation and Environment Committee.
