3. Food Distribution: The UpCounty Hub Food Distribution takes place from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Apple Ridge Recreation Area in Montgomery Village. See complete list of food giveaway events today in the county.
4. Partial Metro Red Line Shutdown: Construction on the Purple Line light rail construction project necessitates the closure of rail service between the Glenmont and Takoma Park stations on Saturday, Jan. 27 and Sunday, Jan. 28. There will be free shuttle bus service.
5. (ICYMI): MCM recently talked with Charles Bailey, the division chief nominated to lead the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS), about the intricacies of firefighting today and looking ahead to the future. The county council is expected to vote on Bailey’s appointment. He was nominated by County Executive Marc Elrich.
