Trees and wires came down Sunday while the county was under a wind advisory with expected wind gusts up to 50 mph.
The wind advisory continues until 5 p.m. Monday.
Part of MacArthur Boulevard in Potomac was temporarily closed for wires and a large tree down, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer.
The tree fell on top of a fire hydrant, causing water to gush out. Piringer stated that power has been restored and the fire hydrant has been replaced.
A 75-foot tree fell onto a house in Chevy Chase on Sunday, according to Piringer.
The tree struck an occupied house on Thornapple Street and there were no reported injuries. Wires were also down and the street was temporarily blocked.
In Gaithersburg, wires were down and some lanes were blocked at Shady Grove Road and Comprint Court, according to Piringer.
Near downtown Silver Spring, a tree fell and was leaning on a house on Margaret Drive, Piringer stated. There was little to no damage and there were no reported injuries.
A large tree and wires were down on Procter Street in Silver Spring, and a tree was down on wires on Flower Avenue in Takoma Park. In the Beallsville area, downed live wires caused a brushfire on Beallsville Road near big Woods Road.
