County Executive Marc Elrich will travel to Taiwan for the second year in a row to represent the county during an international conference and to recruit companies to come here to do business.
The county was successful in bringing back companies last year, according to Elrich. This year, the county is a co-sponsor of the 2024 Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE). Elrich told MCM on Thursday that he would leave for the conference that evening and return Monday, March 25.
The event website states, “2024 SCSE is ready to welcome international city leaders, stakeholders, buyers, business partners, and exhibitors to explore the opportunities with digital & green transformation in wide variety of smart city industries.”
Elrich’s trip to Taiwan last year — joined by other county representatives and business leaders — was his first international economic trade mission as County Executive. And last fall, he traveled to India and Vietnam for a two-week economic trade mission. Following that trip, Elrich said 11 businesses from India and Vietnam were interested in opening in the county.
