Despite COVID-19 forcing libraries across the county to close, Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) began its new contact free pick-up service Monday at all library locations except for Noyes and Long Branch.

The new program, “Holds to Go,” allows residents to place items on hold online and pick them up at their local library.
“With MCPL Holds to Go, we are taking the first step towards welcoming our customers back to our buildings, and we know that they are delighted to be able to get new print reading materials in their hands again,” MCPL Director Anita Vassallo said.
Residents with an active library card can request up to 100 items each. After requesting an item, residents will be notified of available holds and then schedule an appointment for pickup. The items will be placed in a bag outside of the library’s doors or on tables inside of the building.
“MCPL never stopped operating over the past three months – we focused on expanding our digital and streaming offerings, expanding our ebook collections, and adding great new services like Hoopla,” Vassallo added.
