1. Election: Early Voting Centers are open daily from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. through May 9. There are 14 Early Voting Centers in Montgomery County. MCM invited candidates in six races to record video statements which may be found on our election page. Registered voters may request a mail-in ballot online through Tuesday, May 7. Maryland residents who are not registered to vote may do so in person during early voting or on election day. Proof of residency is required. Learn more here.
2. Council Meeting: The county council will meet today at 9 a.m. to continue work on the operating and capital improvements budget. At 11:15 a.m. the Council will interview Patricia Swanson, the County Executive’s nominee to lead Strategic Partnerships. See the agenda here. Watch the livestream here.
3. Resource Information Session: The County is holding information sessions for older adults. The meeting topics include volunteer opportunities, access to free medical equipment like walkers and free transportation options for those 60 and older. Today’s session takes place at White Oak Library from 12:30 to 3 p.m.
4. Municipal Monday: The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meet at 7:30 p.m. for a regular session. The agenda and agenda packet are available online. The Rockville Mayor and Council meet at 6 p.m. Find the meeting agenda online.
5. MCPS Seeks Public Comment: Montgomery County Public Schools policy IOD, Education of English Language Learners is undergoing revisions to increase multilingualism by teaching students English while developing their native language skills. The public may comment on the drafted policy through today.
And one more thing: The Commission on Women’s Career workshops continue today. The topics for the five virtual workshops include preparing a resume, tips for networking, creating an elevator pitch, interview best practices, and wage negotiation.
