Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics
Monday morning the Maryland Department of Health reported 17,842 cumulative cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County, which is an increase of 84 from the 17,758 cases reported Sunday.
Since the first case in March, 754 county residents have died from COVID-19. This is an increase of two deaths since Sunday. More Montgomery County residents have died due to COVID-19 than any other jurisdiction in the state. Prince George’s has lost 720 residents, the second-highest number.
The positivity rate of 3.14% reported Monday is a decrease of 0.36% since Sunday. This is the 20th straight day the rate remained below 4% in the county.
Maryland COVID-19 Statistics
As of Monday morning, there have been 91,144 confirmed cases throughout the state. That is an increase of 870 in the last 24 hours. COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 3,389 Marylanders, eight since Sunday. Montgomery County makes up 25% of the new deaths, while only 10% of the new cases statewide.
Currently, 548 Marylanders are hospitalized with COVID-19, which is five fewer than Sunday. Statewide hospitalizations have risen 42% since July 13 when 386 patients were hospitalized. Of the patients currently in the hospital, 135 are in intensive care, which is six more than Sunday.
The health department reported a testing positivity rate of 4.36% Monday, which is a decrease of 0.24% from Sunday’s rate of 4.6%. The rate has remained below 5% for more than five weeks since June 26.
Statewide, a total of 28,163 cases and 1,385 deaths involve the state’s African American community.
