Strathmore will close its Pike & Rose venue “AMP” next month.
The arts and cultural institution will close the venue after nine years when the lease ends June 30 because the space is going to a commercial tenant, according to a release from Strathmore.
“Federal Realty Investment Trust (FRIT) recently notified the non-profit arts institution that the space is now needed for a commercial tenant relocating its headquarters to Pike & Rose,” the release states.
In a written statement, Strathmore President and CEO Monica Jeffries Hazangeles said, “AMP is more than just a venue. It embodies Strathmore’s entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to program cultural experiences beyond the mainstream. While it is difficult to say goodbye to our space at Pike & Rose, we are excited to pursue new opportunities and carry forward the programming that made AMP special.”
Programs like Strathmore’s Artist in Residence and collaborations with schools will be at other locations like the Mansion on Rockville Pike and the Music Center on Tuckerman Lane, according to the release.
