One of Jacqueline Hoysted‘s painting in her series, Girls – Nice Doesn’t Cut it! will be on digital display at the Kennedy Center June 16 as part of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington’s program.
The Bethesda resident’s artwork was one of nine chosen out of 250 submissions to be displayed in the world premiere of Portraits. A musical composer and a choreographer created works inspired by her portrait that will be performed that evening.
Her piece is “about women taking back the gaze” from men, she explained.
Hoysted grew up in Ireland and moved to Montgomery County to work at Marriott and Amtrak as a computer programmer. She enrolled in the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design and never looked back.
