Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks has been declared the winner in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, according to the Associated Press.
AP called the race less than two hours after polls had closed. She defeated U.S. Rep. David Trone (D-6) and will face former Gov. Larry Hogan in November in the race to fill retiring U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin’s seat.
Alsobrooks had the backing of much of the Democratic elite in Maryland, including Gov. Wes Moore and U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin.
Republican extremists are already pouring millions of dollars into Maryland hoping they could flip our state red.
We are going to need all hands on deck to stop them. Can you share this and chip in today to help us start the general election off strong?https://t.co/fDePxFzXpS

Congrats to @AlsobrooksForMD!
Angela is a fighter for women and families, and I can't wait to have her serving alongside me in the Senate.
But first, we have to do everything we can to help her defeat Mitch McConnell's hand-picked candidate. Let's do this. https://t.co/s3jYoDUSMZ
