A little less than 16% of eligible Montgomery County voters voted either during early voting or on primary election day Tuesday, according to the Maryland Board of Elections.
According to those records, 106,841 county residents cast cards on election day out of 675,906 voters, which is 15.81%.
The highest turnout in Maryland was in Kent County, where 29% of registered voters cast cards.
Poll workers and voters throughout the county cited low turnout and very short wait times.
Mail in ballots are still being tabulated. A total of 134,824 were requested. Mail in ballot canvassing resumes Thursday, and provisional ballot canvassing begins May 22.
The public may attend in person or watch live the tabulation process or canvasses. Visit the County Board of Elections website here to find the canvass schedule and the livestream links.
Election results are expected to be certified on May 24.
