Truck Day Event Postponed to Saturday, June 1

UPDATE: The organizers have postponed the Truck Day event scheduled for May 18 to Saturday, June 1.

Montgomery County is celebrating Public Works Week with a special “Truck Day” event on Saturday, May 18. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Truck Depot and Salt Barn in Rockville.  Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) hosts the event which is free and open to the public.

Truck Day offers a unique opportunity for community members to get up close and personal with a variety of first-response, construction, and transportation vehicles that play a crucial role in keeping the county running smoothly. Attendees will have the chance to touch, climb, and explore vehicles such as a bucket truck, tractor, semi-truck, bus, and even a fire engine.

MCDOT will also host the annual “Paint the Plow” contest, featuring entries from 16 Montgomery County public middle schools. Students will name and decorate a snowplow, and attendees at Truck Day can vote for their favorite design.

The nationally recognized “Public Works Week” takes place from May 19-24 to honor essential workers across the country. The theme for the week is “Advancing Quality of Life for All,” highlighting the contributions of public works professionals to communities nationwide.

MCDOT will also be running a social media campaign to spotlight employees and the essential work they do. The campaign will feature video content showcasing the employees’ contributions and dedication to public safety.
