Cpl. Thomas Sims is the Takoma Park Police Department’s Officer of the Year for 2023.
“Known for his positive and professional demeanor, Corporal Sims embodies the qualities of a dedicated team player and hard worker,” reads a statement from the police department on Tuesday. “He consistently goes above and beyond to support his colleagues and significantly contributes to the agency’s goals and vision.”
According to the police department, Sims was also Acting Sergeant for the Traffic Unit for about eight months.

And Civilian Employee of the Year for 2023 goes to Ron Hardy. He is Police Emergency Preparedness Manager and Police Planner for the Takoma Park force.
“Mr. Hardy’s exemplary work ethic and loyalty make him a true asset to the department, earning him the admiration and respect of both supervisors and peers alike,” the release from police states. “His reputation as a dedicated team player is a testament to his professionalism and integrity.”
