The Montgomery County Sports Hall of Fame is seeking nominations for inductees for its 2025 class and is asking the public to contribute.
The Hall of Fame, which recently found a permanent home within the walls of the Silver Spring Recreation and Aquatic Center, honors individuals who have made contributions or “brought notoriety” to the county through the avenue of sport. Inductees can be coaches, athletes, journalists or anyone who fits that description.
To date, inductees include individuals such as gymnast Dominique Dawes, swimmer Katie Ledecky, basketball player Steve Francis, and high school football coach Bob Milloy.
To curate the Hall of Fame inductee class for 2025, the county is seeking nominations from the public.
The nomination form, which can be found on the Sports Hall of Fame’s website, is due by August 26. Anyone can submit a nomination, but those who are nominated are expected to “exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct, character and leadership” to be awarded induction.
