Call it the dog days of summer.
Montgomery County Recreation will host the ultimate canine celebration on Saturday, Aug. 24, and Sunday, Aug. 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Upper County Outdoor Pool in Gaithersburg.
This annual event is all about the pups, giving the county’s furry friends two days of aquatic fun before the pool closes for the winter. The pool will be closed to humans, allowing dogs of all shapes and sizes to swim freely.
Pre-registration is required for admission. County residents must ensure their dogs have a current Montgomery County dog license.
Tickets range from $10 to $25, with the lower price available only to Montgomery County residents. The event will accommodate 150 dogs, with 40 spots already filled.
Each dog must be accompanied by an adult, and any dog showing signs of aggression will be asked to leave. Proof of a current rabies vaccination is required for every participating dog.
While dogs get to dive in, humans must stay on the sidelines or wade in up to their knees to ensure everyone’s safety.
