Rockville Speed Camera to Start Issuing Citations on September 30

The Rockville City Police Department has introduced a new speed monitoring system in its ongoing effort to curb speeding in local neighborhoods. The portable camera unit, installed in late August near the intersection of southbound Wootton Parkway and Wootton Oats Court, is now fully operational.

The system has been active, but the department hasn’t issued any citations during the initial phase However, starting on or around Monday, Sept. 30, the department will begin issuing citations to drivers exceeding the posted speed limit by 12 mph or more.

This initiative is part of the department’s broader strategy to enhance safety and reduce the number of speeding vehicles in Rockville neighborhoods. The deployment of the speed monitoring system underscores the city’s commitment to maintaining safer roads for all residents.
