1. Car Free Day: Today is Car Free Day, also known as Car Lite Day. The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments urges everyone to carpool, bike, walk, or take public transit.

Council President Briefing: Council President Andrew Friedson will hold his weekly media briefing at 11:30 a.m. He will preview Tuesday’s Council session, including the Council’s discussion with Maryland Secretary of Housing Jacob R. Day and the Hillandale Gateway project, which broke ground last week. Watch the briefing live on the Council’s Facebook page here.

3. Future of Housing in County: The Council is holding a series of in-person listening sessions on the Planning Board’s Attainable Housing Strategies recommendations. Tonight, Council and Planning Board members will be at the Germantown Community Recreation Center from 7-9 p.m. to hear residents’ thoughts.

4. Fiscal 2026 Community Conversation: Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will hold the fourth of 11 public forums tonight at 7 p.m. to discuss priorities for the fiscal 2026 operating budget. Tonight’s forum will be at the White Oak Community Recreation Center.

5. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council work session scheduled for today is canceled. A special session will be held on Thursday, September 26, at 7:30 p.m. with this agenda. The Rockville Mayor and Council meet next on Monday, September 30 at 7 p.m. with this agenda.
