Second Teen Arrested in Connection to Silver Spring Double Homicide

Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) arrested Adom Bogale Abay, 16, of Silver Spring in connection with a double homicide in May.

D’Andre Wint, 20, of Lanham and Quincy Johnson, 20, of Takoma Park were found suffering from gunshot wounds at Nolte Local Park in Silver Spring on May 26, according to a press release. Wint and Johnson were pronounced dead at the scene.

MCPD said detectives gathered evidence linking Abay to the homicides and was served with an arrest warrant. Abay is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of use of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence or felony, according to MCPD. Abay is being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit on unrelated charges. MCPD said Abay is charged as an adult for the double homicide.

MCPD arrested Onyx Santana Austin, 15, of Silver Spring in connection to the double homicide after detectives linked evidence to Austin and requested an arrest warrant on Aug. 26. Austin is charged with two counts of second-degree murder. MCPD said Austin left the country after the homicides and when he returned, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection took him into custody at Dulles International Airport. MCPD said Austin is charged as an adult.
