Student Protesters Supporting Palestine Gather at UMD on Anniversary of Hamas Attack

Student protesters supporting Palestine gathered at the University of Maryland (UMD) in College Park on the one-year mark since the deadly Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel.

Protest signs Monday included calls for a ceasefire and to “end Israeli apartheid.”

On Monday morning, Montgomery County Council President Andrew Friedson marked the anniversary of the attack on Israel and said nearly 1,500 innocent civilians were murdered and abducted “in the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust.”

At 8 p.m., the Maryland Hillel Jewish campus community will hold a ceremony marking one year since the massacre.
