Looking for Halloween excitement? Here’s a list of haunted forests, houses, live theater, and movies near home for a fright-filled experience this October.
Haunted Forests and Houses
Field of Screams Maryland
Features a hike through the new Super Screams Haunted Trail and a visit to the Slaughter Factory Haunted House.

Tickets are only sold online and include the hike and the haunted house. An electronic waiver must be signed in advance. The event is intended to be intense, so parents should use discretion when bringing children. A ticket to play four carnival games is available onsite. Sitting areas with bonfires are available. Concessions stand is available.

Markoff’s Haunted Forest
Features a hike through Markoff’s Haunted Forest and a hayride to The Town and then a walk through the town. The hike through the forest lasts about 30 minutes. The Town event lasts about 45 minutes. Markoff’s Midway is open all night.

Kindred Hills in Frederick
Features a hayride into the darkness and a walk along a dimly lit trail through the woods. The Trick or Treat Trail is offered in the daylight for kids who aren’t ready for the intensity of the trail at night.

The event begins with a bumpy hayride, followed by a walk through a shadowy forest. Tickets are only sold online, and the event will be canceled in bad weather. Check the website for updates.

Laurel’s House of Horror
Features a haunted house tour, escape rooms, and ghost tours.
