Junior Michael Reece, 47, was arrested in connection with a felony assault that was labeled a hate crime.
On Monday at 9:53 a.m., a rabbi was walking on the sidewalk along the 1400 block of Arcola Avenue in Silver Spring when a man swung a wooden stake and struck the rabbi in the arm. Reece then fled the scene, according to Montgomery County Police.
The rabbi suffered minor injuries. His arm was not broken
Police found Reece near the assault and took him to a hospital for evaluation. Once cleared by hospital staff, he will be taken to Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and charged.
The incident occurred near the Silver Spring Jewish Center when the rabbi was leaving a baby naming ceremony.
