Police said a man has been charged with a murder that happened Sunday in Wheaton.
Jose Emilio Ortiz Alba, 30, is charged with first-degree murder for the homicide of Hesler Saul Sanchez Cruz, 45, of Silver Spring, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.
According to police, officers were around University Boulevard and Fern Street when they noticed a truck on the median at University Boulevard and found Sanchez Cruz with an apparent stab wound. Fire and rescue responded close to 3:30 a.m. and tried life-saving measures. Sanchez Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene.
The manner of death was determined as homicide.
Detectives identified Ortiz Alba as the suspect and got an arrest warrant Sunday. He was arrested Monday in Virginia. He will be extradited to Montgomery County, according to police.
