Former Student Who Threatened to ‘Shoot Up’ Montgomery College Not Believed To Be In Area

Takoma Park Police continues to search for the former Montgomery College student who sent “intimidating and threatening emails” to the college and Montgomery County Police indicating he planned to “shoot up” the college.

However, police do not believe that Yonas Alemseged Harris, 25, is in the area or poses a threat here.

Takoma Park police officers issued an active arrest warrant for Harris and are working with other law enforcement officers.

A Code Red was declared and all campuses of Montgomery College were closed Oct. 11 but reopened the following day.

Harris is described as a Black male, 5’2” tall and weighing 125 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. Police warn everyone not to approach Harris. Instead, contact the Takoma Park Police Department immediately at 301-270-1100.
