Democrats Gather to Support Delaney

It was a sun-dappled setting for an all-star political lineup at Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg Thursday afternoon. The name brand Democrats showed up to support their candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives District 6 seat, April McLain-Delaney who is running against Republican Neil Parrott. Among the dignitaries – Governor Wes Moore, District 8’s Congressman Jamie Raskin, State Senator Cheryl Kagan and Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman. Also spotted in the crowd: County Executive Marc Elrich, Councilmembers Dawn Luedtke, Sidney Katz, Evan Glass, Marilyn Balcombe and Laurie-Anne Sayles as well as State’s Attorney John McCarthy. Numerous state delegates also joined the crowd behind the podium.

Dubbed “Our Defender of Democracy” by Ashman, Raskin introduced Moore who encouraged voters, “Do not let the future go by without your fingerprints on it.” He went on to describe Delaney as a candidate who will remember her constituents, uphold reproductive rights for women and safeguard the environment.

Delaney praised the public servants among her supporters, “The team in Maryland…they lift up and care. They want a brighter and prosperous more inclusive future for all of our kids. And I feel so blessed to be not only an American but a Marylander. I am confident that we are going to win on Tuesday because our message is the right message. And we have to move forward to solve the problems without division and acrimony, but from the heart.”

According to the polls, Delaney remains locked in a tight race with Parrott who spent part of his day campaigning in Middletown.
