Clarksburg Claims Inaugural MCPS Flag Football Title

Clarksburg defeated Northwest 13-6 Monday night at Wootton High School to claim the first ever county championship.

This season was the first year that Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) have held a championship for girl’s flag football. There were 25 teams that competed in the tournament, with Clarksburg High School entering as the 2-seed. The Coyotes won all four of their playoff games to take the title.

After a scoreless first half, 8-seed Northwest High School took a 6-0 lead before two touchdowns for Clarksburg, including one with two minutes remaining, saw the Coyotes take the crown.

Clarksburg will now play in the state tournament, which starts at 3:30 p.m. Friday at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
