The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) debuted their #OperationGreenLight Ride On bus at Veterans Memorial Plaza in Rockville Wednesday.
Wrapped in a design created by veterans it features the American flag, a veteran silhouette and a GreenLight neon sign. The bus will recognize those who served as well as help them find resources and services. The County Commission on Veterans’ Affairs website and resource phone number can be seen on the back of the bus. All 400 county Ride On buses will display cards with a QR code to connect vets with services available.
The Greenlight bus will be based in the Silver Spring depot and will be traveling mostly on the Silver Spring routes at the beginning of this month. It will switch to other locations and routes later in November.
A project sponsored by the National Association of Counties, Operation Green Light “honors veterans for their immeasurable sacrifices to preserve freedom.” To show support for the program, homes and businesses can display a green light in a window from Nov. 4-11 to honor veterans.
Veterans can access services by calling Serving Together at 855-738-7176 or visiting the Commission on Veterans Affairs website.
