The Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services will remove all signs illegally placed from the Nov. 5 election. In what they call a “sign sweep,” all signs illegally posted on the sides of roadways will be removed Tuesday. The department will not remove any signs from private property.
Groups to remove the signs have been organized by the department’s Zoning and Code Compliance Section Manager Greg Nichols. According to the press release, staff will not be stopping their vehicles in the middle of roadways to carry out their tasks. Nichols said, “We removed about 1400 signs during our last sign sweep two years ago and not all of these were campaign signs.”
Residents can report illegal signs any time here by clicking the “property complaint” button. The county stresses that you provide both an address and a description of the issue. This can be done anonymously. If you want to report a sign on a state roadway, you can do so here. You can learn more about county code for signs here.
