Approximately 1,050 political campaign signs that were illegally placed were removed Tuesday during the Montgomery County’s Department of Permitting Services (DPS) “sign sweep.”
The removed signs were illegally placed in public rights-of-way on county-maintained roads.
Greg Nichols, DPS Zoning and Code Compliance Section Manager, said inspectors and field supervisors formed teams to target assigned areas.
The collected signs will be recycled at the Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station in Derwood.
Residents can report illegal signs online at montgomerycountymd.gov/dps and clicking on the “property complaint” button.
