The Maryland Department of Health reported 99 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Thursday morning. Since the first case confirmed in March, the cumulative case count for the county is now 23,293.
The county has a rolling seven-day average of 2.05% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a lower rate than 13 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions. This is the lowest average rate since the start of the pandemic in March.
Thursday the health department reported one new COVID-19 death in Montgomery County, bringing the pandemic death toll to 812.
Montgomery County has led the state in coronavirus-related fatalities. Prince George’s County, however, has recorded over seven thousand more coronavirus cases in total since March.
Thursday the state recorded 761 new infections, bringing its total to 129,425. Six new deaths were reported Thursday, making the pandemic death toll 3,835.
The state reported a rolling seven-day average of 2.79% for positive COVID-19 tests Thursday. This is the third straight day since Sept. 26 that the average decreased from the previous day’s average rate.
