Rockville City Police Acting Major Jason West was appointed interim police chief following the resignation of Chief Victor Brito, who announced his resignation effective Nov. 22 after six years of service.
West was appointed by City Manager Jeff Mihelich.
West is a 25-year law enforcement veteran. He began his career with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office where he served until his retirement at the rank of lieutenant in 2017. He joined Rockville City Police in June 2017.
Maj. Troy Plummer was named acting deputy chief. He has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, including 28 years with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, where he retired at the rank of lieutenant in February 2022. He joined Rockville City Police in March 2022.
