A person died after being struck by a train traveling on a CSX railroad track in the Gaithersburg and Germantown area, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) Public Information Officer Pete Piringer.
MCFRS received a report Sunday of a person struck by a train, according to Piringer’s X post from 6:41 p.m. The firefighters evaluated one person on the railway tracks with traumatic injuries and said they did not survive. Police were also on the scene, according to Piringer.

Piringer said the train traffic stopped in the area due to the accident and associated police activity near Waring Station Road.
Game Preserved Road between Route 355 and Clopper Road was closed and is an extended closure, according to Montgomery County Department of Police’s (MCPD) X post. MCPD advised drivers to seek an alternative route.
