As Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC Water) repairs a 12-inch water main at Houston Avenue in Takoma Park, everyone is advised to avoid the intersections at Sligo Creek Parkway and Maple Avenue and Sligo Creek Parkway and Piney Branch Roads.
A water station at 666 Houston Avenue, off Brighton Avenue, at the parking lot of the Winslow Apartments, has been set up to distribute water to those impacted by the water main break. Residents are asked to bring containers that can be filled at the water station.
The Department of Public Works and the WSSC Water are addressing the issue.
Heavy water flow has been observed running down the street near Houston Avenue, prompting the placement of barricades in front of 641 Houston and 666 Houston. These barricades are set up to prevent access to Sligo Creek Parkway due to safety concerns.
