DC Temple’s Festival of Lights Welcomes Visitors with Dazzling Displays, Performances

The 47th annual Festival of Lights at the Washington D.C. Temple is now open to the public, offering over 500,000 dazzling Christmas lights. Visitors can explore illuminated temple grounds, international Christmas tree displays, and Nativity créches from around the world.

Running through Jan. 1, nightly concerts feature choirs, orchestras, bands, and bell ensembles, creating a festive atmosphere. Tickets are no longer required, and parking is free, making it an accessible and family-friendly event.

David Marriott, whose family has hosted the festival since the 1970s, described its inclusive mission. “Differences make the world a beautiful place,” he said at the Dec. 3 opening ceremony, which welcomed diplomats and community leaders. Mongolian Ambassador Batbayar Ulziidelger called the festival a “beacon of hope and unity,” praising its message of fellowship and goodwill.
