Last year, Quince Orchard football made MCM’s Top Stories of 2023 by losing to arch rival Northwest in the second round of the playoffs. The stunning loss snapped the Cougars’ 39-game winning streak dating back to November 2019. It also ended their string of three straight 4A state championships.
No one beat Quince Orchard in 2024. The Cougars went 13-0 outscored opponents 518-88 (average score: 40-7). They capped off the season with a 24-13 victory over Wise in the state 4A finals on Dec. 6. It was the Cougars’ third state title in four years and sixth in school history.
Head coach John Kelley told MCM, “I was very fortunate to have an outstanding group of players this season. They aspired to be great every single day and a great group of assistant coaches who prepared them day in and day out.”
