Nature Forward Receives Grant To Collect Stories, Inspire Conservation

Nature Forward in Chevy Chase was awarded $50,000 by the federal government to collect stories from local underrepresented communities living along area waterways within the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

The group that was formerly known as the Audubon Naturalist Society will correlate the stories with relevant stream health data to highlight the interconnectedness of human activities and the environment. The goal is to inspire conservation action.

Also receiving funding for projects within the Chesapeake Bay watershed were the Anacostia Watershed Society, Baltimore Heritage, Blacks of the Chesapeake Foundation and the Maryland Humanities Council.

The awards are from the National Park Service’s Chesapeake Bay Gateways Grants Assistant Program.
