Daniels, Commanders Overcome Turnovers to Stun Eagles

The Washington Commanders overcame five turnovers, 1500 yards rushing by Saquon Barkley and 13-point fourth quarter deficit snapping the Philadelphia Eagles’ 10-game win streak 36-33. Rookie Jayden Daniels threw 5 touchdown passes and the Commanders improved to 10-5.

Super 6-Pack

  • Death, Taxes and Jayden Daniels playing his best ball when the stakes are the highest –  Nobody is sure how Washington’s season will finish, but we can all agree on this, Jayden Daniels is a franchise changing type of QB. Sunday, the rookie signal caller put the team on his back against the number one defense in the NFL. It was a record-setting type of day for the young man. Daniels is the first rookie QB in NFL history to throw for five touchdowns and rush for 65+ yards in a game. Daniels also is the first rookie in NFL history with multiple game-winning TD passes in the final 30 seconds of the 4th quarter. After his performance Sunday, I think he should be placed right back into the MVP conversation, without him, what are the 2024 Commanders?

  • All Bark(ley) no bite– Eagles running back Saquan Barkley is on pace to break the NFL’s single season rushing record set by hall of famer Eric Dickerson in 1984! Sunday Barkley seemed as if he was en route to another IMPACTFUL performance. Barkley ripped off a 69-yard touchdown run to put Philly up 21-7 in the 2nd quarter. Outside of that run, Barkley was hardly impactful as he was limited to 28 carries for 82 yards, an average of 2.9 yards per carry.

  • Party like it’s 1991! – With Sunday’s exhilarating win, Washington has their best start through 15 games since 1991 at 10-5.

  • Defense walked so the offense could run – The Washington defense has been heavily scrutinized throughout the season, and for good reason. On Sunday, it was the defense that kept the team in the football game. The Commanders became the 3rd team to win a game after having 5+ TOs and a double-digit time of possession deficit since 2000. With the offense continuously putting the group in bad spots, the defense came up BIG.

  • Something special is brewing in Washington – Washington is off to a 10-5, the best since 1991, the last year this team won a Super Bowl. One thing that was super important during the team’s glory years was having special leaders together on the same page. Washington currently has that in Head Coach Dan Quinn and General Manager Adam Peters. Quinn became the only head coach in franchise history to win 10-plus games in his first year with the organization with Sunday’s win. General Manager Adam Peters also joined Charley Casserly as the only GMs in franchise history to win 10-plus games in their first season as GM with the organization.

  • Game Balls– Jayden Daniels, Jamison Crowder, Olamide Zaccheaus, Frankie Luvu and Johnny Newton
