Craig Melvin Debuts as Today Show Co-Anchor

Craig Melvin debuted as co-anchor, alongside Savannah Guthrie, on the Today show on NBC Monday. Melvin replaces Hoda Kotb, who co-anchored Today from 2018-2025 with Guthrie. Kotb, who left the show Friday, was feted with several on-air tributes from friends and colleagues last week.

Local TV watchers may remember Melvin when he was a weekend news anchor at NBC4 from 2008-11. He then worked for NBC News and MSNBC covering several big events like Republican and Democratic conventions, mass shootings and summer and winter Olympics.

Melvin, 45, started his career as an anchor/reporter for a local station in his hometown of Columbia, S.C. He is married to former NBC4 sportscaster Lindsay Czarniak. They have two kids.
