Police Warn of Poshmark Scam, Seek Additional Victims

Montgomery County police are investigating a scam involving the online marketplace Poshmark and warn there may be more victims.

On Sept. 7, 2024, a Montgomery County resident reported that their bank card was fraudulently used to buy items online. Detectives tracked a purchase from Dick’s Sporting Goods to a different recipient.

The investigation revealed the recipient bought the item on Poshmark from seller “@valdez310.” The seller allegedly used the victim’s stolen bank card to purchase the item and resell it on Poshmark.

Detectives say “@valdez310” has used stolen credit card information to list and sell fraudulent orders on the platform.

Authorities believe more victims may have had their personal information stolen for similar scams. Potential victims should contact the 4th District Patrol Investigative Unit at 240-773-5476.
