Police arrested Kofi Aidoo, 32, of Silver Spring on firearms-related charges, including prohibited possession of a firearm.
The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD), Prince George’s County Police, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) collaborated on the investigation.
On Wednesday, officers staged near Glenmont United Methodist Church in the 12900 block of Georgia Avenue. They were preparing to serve a search warrant related to the case.
Aidoo is accused of stealing a handgun from a gun range in Prince George’s County.
Officers recovered a firearm during the search and arrested Aidoo without incident.
MCPD confirmed that the police presence in the area was solely related to this investigation. Officials clarified it was not connected to immigration enforcement.
