Police Seek Armed Home Invasion Suspect Impersonating Officer

Montgomery County Police are investigating an armed home invasion in which the suspect impersonated a law enforcement officer.

Around 1 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 200 block of Hannes Street in Silver Spring after receiving a report of a home invasion. The victim heard a knock at the door and upon answering, an adult male entered the apartment, showed a badge from inside his jacket and falsely identified himself as a police officer.

According to police, the suspect was reported to be carrying a black handgun and then demanded money and threatened the victim before leaving.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 45 to 50-years-old, 5- feet, 9-inches to 5-feet, 10-inches tall, with a stocky build, salt-and-pepper hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a black surgical mask, a black jacket, dark jeans and a striped button-down shirt.
