Maryland Ranks 6th Best State for Women’s Health

Maryland ranks as the sixth-best state for women’s health, according to a new report from SmileHub. The nonprofit analyzed 18 key factors, including maternal mortality, hospital quality, and healthcare affordability.

Maryland performed well in several areas. The state ranked sixth for depression rates among women and tenth for both health and wellness charities per woman and doctor visit affordability. However, Maryland placed 29th for the quality of women’s hospitals and 23rd for women’s life expectancy at birth.

SmileHub’s study found that over one-third of U.S. women skip necessary medical care due to cost. The report highlights disparities across states and identifies areas needing improvement.
