Extreme Cold Alert Friday Morning

The county is under an Extreme Cold Alert Friday morning.

The alert lasts until 11 a.m., according to the county’s Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (OEMHS).

Residents are advised to “Wear layers if you go outside. Take extra precautions if you spend significant time outdoors,” states OEMHS.

Safety tips from the county include limiting outdoor recreational activity, and if outside, wearing several layers of loose-fitting clothing under a heavy coat. Also, pets must not be left outside unattended during extreme cold temperatures.

There was a Winter Weather Advisory from Wednesday into Thursday issued by the National Weather Service.
