1. Winter Storm Warning: The county is under a Winter Storm Warning until 7 a.m. today.

2. Plastic Bag Ban Approved: Starting Jan. 1, 2026, retailers will be prohibited from giving out plastic carryout bags, with some exceptions.
3. Telephone Town Hall for Federal Workers: At 7:30 p.m., Maryland Senators Chris Van Hollen and Angela Alsobrooks will hold a telephone town hall to update their constituents on the protections available to federal employees.
4. Takoma Park City Council: The Takoma Park City Council will have a meeting today starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Takoma Park Community Center. The meeting can be viewed in-person, on YouTube, the City Council video webpage, Facebook, or City TV. See the meeting agenda here.
5. ICYMI: One of the most iconic American novels is said to have been inspired by a man who was once enslaved in Montgomery County. Josiah Henson is the inspiration behind Harriet Beecher Stowe’s “Uncle Tom’s Cabin.” Those telling Henson’s story locally want people to know the persevering hero behind the controversial character.
