Issa Rae has canceled her sold-out show at the Kennedy Center next month after a shake up in leadership at the performance arts center led by President Trump’s administration.
Rae, best known for her HBO show Insecure which she co-created, co-wrote and co-starred in, posted on social media “Unfortunately, due to what I believe to be an infringement on the values of an institution that has faithfully celebrated artists of all backgrounds through all mediums, I’ve decided to cancel my appearance at this venue.”
Rae, who was born and lives in Los Angeles, attended Cold Spring Elementary School in Potomac and has credited her time in Montgomery County as one of great diversity and inclusivity.
“An Evening with Issa Rae” was scheduled for March 16. Rae told her fans that all tickets will be refunded.
