Lawmakers Protest Firings at Health Agencies

On Wednesday, Senator Chris Van Hollen rallied workers outside the Health and Human Services Department in Washington.

Dubbed the “Fund Don’t Freeze” rally the Maryland lawmakers pointed out the dangers to the American public posed by the random dismissals of qualified civil servants.

Congressman Jamie Raskin also spoke about conversations he had with constituents who have been terminated because they were on probation: “…they are terminated because they were just promoted because they were doing such a great job. That’s stupid, that’s cruel.”

He continued, “These are people who have superior work evaluations and they’ve been sacked in total violation of the civil service laws … the reason they are being fired is they won’t bow down to Donald Trump and Elon Musk.”

As he ended his speech Raskin added “A rally a day keeps the Fascists away.” He predicted rallies all over America to build up ” massive herd immunity to the Fascists in America.”

According to ABC News, as of this writing more than 200 thousand federal workers have been laid off or fired at various agencies. With dozens of offices countrywide, the impact is being felt far beyond the Washington beltway.
