1. Council President Briefing: Council President Kate Stewart will host a media briefing at 11:30 a.m. to discuss Council matters. She plans to announce an upcoming series of United in Service and Support online community resource events focused on assisting residents impacted by changes implemented by the Trump administration.  Watch the briefing live on the Council’s Facebook page.

2. Council Committee Meetings: Three council committees meet today.

  • The Education & Culture and Health & Human Services committees hold a joint work session today at 9:30 a.m. in the 7th Floor Hearing room with this agenda.
  • The Planning, Housing, and Parks committee meets today in the 7th Floor Hearing room at 1:45 p.m. with this agenda.

4. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council work session scheduled for this evening is cancelled. The Rockville Mayor and Council meet at 6:30 p.m. today. Find the agenda here.

5. ICYMI: One of the most iconic American novels is said to have been inspired by a man who was once enslaved in Montgomery County. Josiah Henson is the inspiration behind Harriet Beecher Stowe’s “Uncle Tom’s Cabin.” Those telling Henson’s story locally want people to know the persevering hero behind the controversial character.
