Allergy season is when airborne allergens—like pollen, mold, and dust—are at their highest levels. The severity and timing of allergy season depend on location, weather conditions, and which allergens trigger your symptoms.
Dr. Fabian Sandoval, CEO and founder of Emerson Clinical Research Institute explains how people can protect their health during this allergy season.
Here are some tips to manage allergy symptoms:
- Check pollen counts: Use apps or websites to monitor daily levels and stay indoors when they’re high.
- Keep windows closed: Especially in the morning when pollen is most active. Use air purifiers indoors.
- Shower & change clothes: After being outside, remove pollen from skin and hair.
- Wash bedding frequently: Pollen and dust mites can settle in your sheets.
- Use antihistamines or nasal sprays: Over-the-counter or prescribed medications can help.
- Try natural remedies: Local honey, saline rinses, and steam inhalation can soothe symptoms.
