Poll Finds Maryland Voters ‘Dispirited’

A poll conducted by Patrick Gonzales Research & Media Services confirms the ongoing political divide among Marylanders.

In a poll conducted from March 5-9, 804 registered voters who indicated they would be likely to vote in the next election participated in telephone interviews.

When asked about their approval of Governor Wes Moore, 55% approved of the job he is doing while 36% disapproved. Moore’s positive rating has dropped during the legislative season from 61% in late January.

Among Democrats his approval rating stands at 83%. Approval from Independents trended downward at 34% with 42% disapproving. A January Gonzales poll put Moore at a 53% approval among Independents.

Not surprisingly President Trump’s approval rating in the poll came in at 36% with a disapproval rating of 62%.  And Elon Musk, the chain saw wielding head of the Department of Government Efficiency rated even lower at 30%.

Gonzales told MCM one thing that surprised him in his polling was the general malaise Marylanders were experiencing. He described Maryland voters as feeling “dispirited” with only 44% saying the state is moving in the right direction.

The poll found many in the state rated their economic security as “not good.” According to the numbers 58% rate economic conditions in the state as “only fair” or “poor”.

The margin of error in the poll ranges from plus or minus 3.5 percent which adheres to accepted statistical standards.
